River intake stations

A recent project for Severn Trent Water, as part of a maintenance contract, involved replacing huge timbers on a river intake station. Access was only possible from the water, so we had to use a barge to bring the timbers to the site. They were craned into position and secured by Gardiners' operatives.

Working in such hazardous conditions above a fast flowing river, meant Health & Safety procedures were critical, with safety harnesses and lifejackets being worn at all times.

As with all such projects our advanced planning, including detailed risk assessments and method statements, enabled the project to be finished on time and without incident.
